THINGS TO KNOW

Are dogs allowed?

Unfortunately we are no longer able to allow dogs at the event.  With the large number that requested permission this year, we had to limit the event to only Service Animals.

 

Many of our events are dog friendly, but with the numbers increasing over the years, for safety and liability reasons we ask you keep your animals at home.

What is the Challenge?

With the addition of The Feeding Frenzy 5k that will take place on Saturday evening at the Brannon Center, there are two challenges that participants can take on:

 

1. 5k Challenge

 

This Challenge the participants take part in Saturday's The Feeding Frenzy 5k and Sunday's Shark Bite 5k.

 

Participants will receive an additional Challenge Medal on top of their two (2) Finisher Medals from the races. So a total of 3 medals.

 

2. Half Challenge

 

This Challenge the participants take part in Saturday's The Feeding Frenzy 5k and Sunday's Shark Bite Half.

 

Participants will receive an additional Half Bonus Medal, on top of the Challenge Medal, The Feeding Frenzy 5k Medal, and the Shark Bite Half Medal.  So a total of 4 medals.  

Is this a Beach Run?

No, the race is not run on the beach.  This is a certified road race.

When is Packet Pick Up?

Packet Pick Up will be available:

 

Last year our Shark Bite Half Expo was a huge hit, so we are doing it again.  It will be the only pre-race spot to pick up your packet.  It will have lots of great stuff to check out: brands, races, activities, and more.

 

It will be located at:

 

Brannon Center

105 S. Riverside Dr

New Smyrna Beach, FL

 

Expo hours will be 12-6 pm

 

Race Morning starting at 6:00 AM.

When should I show up for the Half Marathon? The 5k?

It is highly recommended to show up about an hour prior to the start of your event.

 

This way you have ample time to check-in, use the restrooms, warm-up, and get ready to tear up the course.

Are there restrooms on course?

Yes, restrooms will be available at:

 

Half

Mile 2

Mile 4

Mile 6

Mile 8

Mile 10

Mile 12

 

5k

There are no restrooms on course affliated with run.

Is there anything but water at the water stations?

There will be Water Stations every two miles that have water and some sort of electrolyte drink.

 

Water Station at Mile 8 will have Clif Gels available. 

Is there a course time limit?

Yes, course time limit will be: 4 hours

Where will the results be posted?

Results will be texted (as long as you opt in during registration) to your phone or email address within minutes of finishing the event.

 

We will then have them posted at two different locations:

Is there a lost and found?

During event, any lost & found item will be at the timing tent.

Where should I park?

Flagler Avenue cooridoor has places throughout.

 

Parking in the Flagler Avenue Boardwalk will be limited do to event staff, staging, and festivities.

What will be in the party zone? Food? Beer?

The party zone will be located at the Flagler Ave Boardwalk Parking Lot..  All of-age participants will receive a Free Local beer provided by New Smyrna Beach Brewing Co.

 

We have some awesome vendors so make sure you check them out.

 

Oh yeah, a mechanical shark.  Yeah, you read that right.  a MECHANICAL SHARK.  Test your luck, or stamina on our one of a kind mechanical shark. 

 

There will be pizza available for participants at the finish line snacks, and we have some other vendors that will have some other race day goodies as well.

How many age groups?

How many awards and what will they be?

Awards will be given to the Top Three Overall Male & Female.

 

Top Masters Male & Female.

 

Then Top Three in each age group.

 

Check back for awards to be revealed.

Can I transfer my registration to another runner or another race?

Yes,  to transfer your registration to another runner please follow the instructions on the link.  Once the transfer cutoff date has been reached this will not be offered until race Packet pickups.

Yes. the half marathon is.  The 5k is not.
